MENINGKATKAN PEMAHAMAN TEKS DESKRIPTIF SISWA MELALUI MODEL MIND MAPPING DI SMP NEGERI 13 BANJARMASIN
Abstract
Abstract. The research was intended to find out the increased reading comprehension of Students of SMP Negeri 13 Banjarmasin on descriptive text by applying mind-mapping model. There were 30 participants in the research. The research was conducted in two cycles. The data was collected through observation, learning test and students’ responds, then it is analysed descriptively and qualitatively. The result showed that the average of the students’ score in the observation was 58.81, and the average increased in Cycle I Action1 (61.81), in the cycle I action 2 was 67.98, and in the cycle 2 action 1 was 73.54. The students’ respond showed that 79% of the students agree that the application of mind mapping model help them to understand the material better, while 21% disagree of it.

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui besarnya peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman reading siswa SMP Negeri 13 Banjarmasin terhadap teks deskriptif dengan penerapan model pembelajaran mind mapping didalam kegiatan belajar mengajar didalam kelas. Penelitian dilakukan dengan melibatkan 30 siswa sebagai partisipan dan dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Data penelitian diperoleh dari observasi, tes hasil belajar dan respon siswa yang kemudian dianalisa secara deskriptif-kualitatif. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan siswa yang ditunjukkan dengan hasil tes dari tahap observasi awal, yakni 58,81, setelah penerapan model mind mapping, hasil tes siswa naik menjadi 61,81 pada siklus 1 tindakan 1, sedangkan pada siklus 1 tindakan 2 naik menjadi 67,98, dan menjadi 73,54 pada siklus II tindakan 1. Respon siswa menunjukkan bahwa 79% responden setuju dan 21% tidak setuju bahwa model min mapping membantu mereka memahami materi pelajaran lebih baik
