Abstract


Palm oil is one of the plantation subsectors in Indonesia. The high production of palm oil produces organic waste, including empty palm fruit bunches and palm oil mill effluent. This organic waste can be processed into compost which has high use value. The aim of this research is to determine the optimal composition of empty palm oil bunches and palm oil mill effluent on compost formation and to determine the effect of variations in the composition of empty palm oil bunches and palm oil mill effluent on pH, temperature, water content, appearance of compost organisms and elements. micro nutrients Ca, Mg, Cu, Fe, Zn in compost. The composition variations in the research were empty oil palm bunches and palm oil mill effluent, namely 60:40, 40:60, and 100 empty palm oil bunches. The final results in the 60:40 variation composition research were pH 6.8; temperature 24°C; water content 49.61844072%; Ca 0.079%; Fe 0.21%; Mg 0.49%; Cu 34.66 mg/kg; Zn 22.79 mg/kg with optimal variations, namely temperature and Mg. In the composition variation of 40:60, namely pH 6.9; temperature 24°C; water content 48.13441223%; Ca 0.082%; Fe 0.20%; Mg 0.27%; Cu 39.99 mg/kg; Zn 16.95 mg/kg with optimal variations, namely pH, temperature and Cu as well as the appearance of the organism. The variation composition of 100 empty oil palm bunches is pH 6.8; temperature 22°C; water content 50.67676346%; Ca 0.083%; Fe 0.50%; Mg 0.35%; Cu 32.33 mg/kg; Zn 25.11 mg/kg with optimal variations, namely water, Ca, Fe and Zn content.
