Optimizing Social Forestry Programs through the Utilization of Social Capital: A Community Empowerment Approach

Abstract

This activity aims to provide an understanding of the importance of social aspects, in this case, community social capital, in forest management to optimize the social forestry program. The activity was held on July 15, 2024. The event took place at the Muara Danau Village Hall. A total of 25 participants were invited, consisting of members involved in the social forestry program. The method used was community empowerment through counseling and assistance regarding using social capital to optimize the social forestry program. Based on the pre-test and post-test results, there was a 30% increase in community understanding of using social capital in optimizing the village forestry program. Thus, the improvement in understanding the use of social capital has implications for increasing community participation, which is essential for optimizing the social forestry program and, ultimately, for improving community welfare.
