Aktivitas Antibakteri Ekstrak Akar Binjai (Mangifera caesia Jack.) terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan Streptococcus Pyogenes In Vitro
Abstract
tannins. This study aims to analyze the differences in inhibitory activity of binjai root extract against Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes in vitro. The study design used true experimental, post-test only with control group design, consisting of 10 treatments of binjai root extract (50%, 55%, 60%, 65%, 70%, 75%, 80%, 85%, 90%, 95%) and penicillin 15 µg (positive control). Analysis of research data using one-way ANOVA test, Duncan post-hoc test, and independent t test at 95% confidence level. The results showed 80% binjai root extract was the optimum concentration of Staphylococcus aureus (23.49 mm) and Streptococcus pyogenes (19.49 mm). At the same concentration the inhibitory activity of Staphylococcus aureus was greater than that of Streptococcus pyogenes. The conclusion of this study is that there are differences in the inhibitory activity of the binjai root extract preparations for Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes.

Abstrak: Binjai (Mangifera caesia Jack.) memiliki zat aktif antibakteri saponin dan tanin. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis perbedaan aktivitas daya hambat ekstrak akar binjai terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan Streptococcus pyogenes secara in vitro. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan true experimental, post test-only with control group design, terdiri dari 10 perlakuan ekstrak akar binjai (50%, 55%, 60%, 65%, 70%, 75%, 80%, 85%, 90%, 95%) dan penisilin 15 µg (kontrol positif). Analisis data penelitian menggunakan uji one-way ANOVA, uji post-hoc Duncan, dan uji t independent pada tingkat kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian didapatkan ekstrak akar binjai 80% merupakan konsentrasi optimum terhadap Staphylococcus aureus (23,49 mm) dan Streptococcus pyogenes (19,49 mm). Pada konsentrasi yang sama aktivitas daya hambat terhadap Staphylococcus aureus lebih besar dibandingkan dengan Streptococcus pyogenes. Simpulan penelitian ini yaitu terdapat perbedaan aktivitas daya hambat dari sediaan ekstrak akar binjai terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan Streptococcus pyogenes.
