Structural Analysis of the Kamal Region, Tanjungmekar District, Sumedang Regency, West Java Province
Abstract

ABSTRACT
Structural Analysis of the Kamal Region, Tanjungmekar District, Sumedang Regency, West Java Province
The research area is located in Kamal region, Tanjungmekar District, Sumedang Regency, West Java Province. This study aims to analyze the geological structural conditions of the Kamal area, located within the Bogor Anticlinorium Zone. Based on geological mapping and structural analysis, the geological structures identified in the area consist of folds and faults that predominantly trend northwest - southeast. Two major folds, the Kamal Anticline and Kamal Syncline, are classified as Horizontal Upright Folds based on stereonet analysis. The faults structures identified include the Cikandung Reverse Fault and the Wanajaya Dextral Strike–Slip Fault, trending northwest - southeast and northeast - southwest, respectively. These structural patterns indicate compressional forces with a principal stress direction trending northeast - southwest. The formation of these geological structures is interpreted to have occurred during a single Plio–Pleistocene orogenic phase. This research provides insights into the local tectonic dynamics influenced by the regional tectonic framework of West Java.
