Abstract

his study experimentally evaluated the effects of 2-, 3-, and 4-nozzle wet-scrubber configurations on CO₂ concentration and downstream temperature profiles in a laboratory-scale waste incinerator. Experiments were conducted for 90 min with four independent replicates for each configuration. CO₂ concentration was measured at 10-min intervals, while temperatures were monitored in the combustion chamber, purification chamber, and outlet. Relative to the baseline condition, average measured CO₂ concentrations decreased by 17.29%, 25.54%, and 44.41% for the 2-, 3-, and 4-nozzle configurations, respectively. The four-nozzle configuration also produced the lowest average purification-chamber and outlet temperatures. These results demonstrate that increasing spray coverage can reduce the measured CO₂ concentration and thermal load downstream of the incinerator under the investigated conditions.
