Jurnal Hutan Tropis (JHT) publishes articles from research in the field of forestry science, such as Forest Management, Economic and Business of Forestry, Hydrology, Silviculture, Remote Sensing, Forest Ecology, Ecotourism, Agroforestry,  Social Forestry, Forest Product Technology, Non Timber Forest Product, Forest Policy, Forest Conservation and Forest Protection, which have not been published elsewhere.

JHT was first published in 1999 which was originally named Jurnal Hutan Tropis Borneo, then in 2010 it changed to Jurnal Hutan Tropis. In 2013 there was a change in the style and appearance so that it obtained a new ISSN (p-ISSN 2337-7771; e-ISSN 2337-7992). Currently. In 2024, National research and innovation agency has approved a change in the frequency of publications to 3 monthly, in March, June, September, and December.
