JHT was first published in 1999 which was originally named Jurnal Hutan Tropis Borneo, then in 2010 it changed to Jurnal Hutan Tropis. In 2013 there was a change in the style and appearance so that it obtained a new ISSN (p-ISSN 2337-7771; e-ISSN 2337-7992). Currently, JHT is published in collaboration with the Faculty of Forestry, Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) and the Indonesian Forestry Bachelor Association Centre (PERSAKI).
