Pengaruh Pengaturan Jarak Tanam Terhadap Pertumbuhan dan Hasil Tanaman Sorgum Lokal Sumba “Miting Nggangga” di Kelurahan Kawangu Sumba Timur

Abstract


Sorghum “Miting Nggangga” is one of the local sorghums of Sumba with the characteristic of dark black seeds that have the potential to be an alternative food source. Its resistance to extreme drought weather causes this plant to continue to grow in the dry lands of Sumba Island. So far, farmers on Sumba Island have planted local sorghum as a hedge plant and intercrop with other plants so that growth and yield have not been the main focus in cultivation. This study aims to determine the effect of plant spacing on the growth and yield of local sorghum plants in Sumba using a Completely Randomized Design with 5 treatments (JT1 50x10cm; JT2 50x20cm; JT3 60x10cm; JT4 60x20cm; JT5 70x20cm) with 4 replications. The results showed that the plant spacing of 70x20cm gave the best results on the growth and yield of local sorghum plants.
