Abstract

Hypertension is the leading cause of cardiac death and disability, and about 1.3 billion people worldwide suffer from the disease. The observations showed that people often experience headaches, accompanied by a significant increase in blood pressure, especially in the elderly. Education related to improving sleep quality and duration is one of the appropriate strategies that can be carried out, considering a significant relationship between short sleep duration and hypertension. The method is carried out by the steps of conducting a review of the citizen, observing and measuring blood pressure as well as conducting a pre-test related to the level of public knowledge about quality sleep, conducting education related to quality sleep strategies, and recording it in the video so that the public can repeating educational materials every day if needed, conducting post-tests related to the level of public knowledge of quality sleep strategies, conducting evaluations, conducting data analysis. The post-test results showed a significant increase (94.16%) in knowledge related to sleep quality before and after counselling. Counselling the community regarding quality sleep strategies has benefits for reducing the risk of hypertension.
