Journal History
The name of the journal ILUNG (Ultimate Wetland Innovation) is taken from the name of the water hyacinth plant (Eichhornia crassipes) or known in the local language (Banjar tribe, South Kalimantan) as ilung. Ilung is an aquatic plant that grows in swamps, lakes, reservoirs and rivers that flow calmly.
The choice of the name of this aquatic plant as the name of the service journal published by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) is in accordance with ULM's vision and mission, namely to realize ULM as a leading and competitive university in the field of the wetland environment. Wetlands are the biggest potential of the South Kalimantan region in particular, and Kalimantan in general. Wetlands are the main characteristics of the studies produced by ULM, and are implemented in the form of community service.
Ilung is a very hardy plant and can adapt to almost any environment. The spread of this plant is so fast that it is considered a weed that can damage the aquatic environment. Even though the ilung plant performs its function, namely the presence of
phytoremediation properties, this plant is able to restore environmental problems because it can absorb organic and inorganic compounds in water effectively. The more polluted a water is, the faster the development of ilung will be. On the other hand, ilung plants can be used as a growing medium and fertilizer for plants, a source of feed for fish and livestock, bioenergy, herbicides, and can be created into crafts that can generate economic value for the community.
With the ilung philosophy, it is hoped that the ILUNG journal can develop rapidly to spread benefits for the community and the environment, in the form of information and knowledge from the results of community service activities, especially in the wetland environment. Therefore, the ILUNG Service Journal contains focus areas consisting of: (1) Food and Health Self-reliance and Security, (2) Energy security, advanced materials and infrastructure, (3) Natural resource management, environment and disasters, (4) Education and cultural arts , (5) Information and Communication Technology, and (6) Social humanities.
Peer Review Proces
The journal uses double-blind review, which means the identity of the reviewer and author is hidden from reviewers, and vice versa, during the review process.
To facilitate this, authors need to ensure that their manuscripts are prepared in a way that does not identify them. To assist with this preparation please ensure the following when submitting to "Jurnal Pengabdian ILUNG (Excellent Wetland Innovation)"
Submit Title Page containing Author details and Blind Manuscript without author details as 2 separate files.
Information to help prepare the Title Page
This should include the title, author's name and affiliation, and the full address for the associated author including phone and email address.
Information to help prepare the Blind Manuscript
In addition to the obvious need to remove names and affiliations under headings in manuscripts, there are other steps that need to be taken to ensure manuscripts are properly prepared for double-blind peer review. To help with this process, the important things to note are the following:
Use third person to refer to work that has been previously done by the Author, e.g. replace phrases such as “as we have shown before” with “… previously shown [Anonymous, 2007]” .
Make sure the numbers don't contain any affiliation related identifiers
Do not omit important self-references or other references but limit self-references to papers that are relevant to those reviewing submitted papers.
Cite the paper published by the Author in the following text: ‘[Anonymous, 2007]’.
To dazzle in the reference list: '[Anonymous 2007] Details omitted for double-blind review.'
Remove references to funding sources
Not including thank you
Name your files carefully and make sure the document properties are also anonymized.
Author anonymity prevents reviewer bias, for example based on the author's country of origin or previous controversial work.
Articles written by prestigious or well-known authors are considered based on the content of their paper, not their reputation.
Reviewers can often identify authors by their writing style, subject matter, or self-citation.
