Studi Pengaruh Waktu Sintesis Hidrotermal Terhadap Ukuran Kristal dan Kristalinitas Oksida Logam Piroklor Tipe Fe2Zr2O7
Abstract
ABSTRACT− Kalimantan has the potential for abundant mineral resources, one of which is iron (Fe) ore which can be utilized as a precursor in the synthesis of pyrochlor metal oxides. The magnetic properties in iron sand provide great opportunities for applications in various fields, including electronics and catalysts. This study aims to examine the crystallinity of Fe₂Zr₂O₇-type pyrochlor oxide synthesized and determine its crystal particle size using the Debye-Scherrer calculation method. The research stages include the extraction of iron precursors from iron ore and the synthesis of pyrochlor oxide using the hydrothermal method. The results showed that at a reaction time of 5 hours with a temperature of 180 ˚C, the FWHM and area values produced were 0.03 and 0.02, which were the smallest values compared to other conditions. In contrast, at a reaction time of 10 hours with the same temperature, the FWHM and area values reached 0.19 and 0.12, which were the largest values. The particle size of Fe₂Zr₂O₇ pyrochlor oxide was measured based on the intensity of the highest 2θ peak. The results show that in the 5-hour reaction at 180 ˚C, the crystal particle size is 394.66 nm, while in the 10-hour reaction at the same temperature, the crystal size is reduced to 52.02 nm. It can be concluded that Fe₂Zr₂O₇-type pyrochlor oxide synthesized at 5 hours with a temperature of 180 ˚C produces crystals with the smallest FWHM value (0.03), smallest area (0.02), and largest crystal size (394.66 nm). In contrast, synthesizing for 10 hours produced a larger FWHM value (0.19), larger area (0.12), and smaller crystal size (52.02 nm).
