Abstract

ABSTRACT. Agroforestry is a land management system that has the potential to improve food security and farmers' income on dry land in West Nusa Tenggara. This study aimed to identify farming orientation, analyze plant species composition, and examine the climate resilience mechanism of agroforestry systems in Kayangan Village, North Lombok Regency. The method used was a census of 25 agroforestry farmers through interviews and plant species inventory. Data were analyzed descriptively, by frequency, and Spearman correlation. The results showed that 100% of farmers applied a semi-commercial system by planting an average of 25 ± 6 plant species per 0.5 Ha. 21 core species were found, with 5 species at 100%, namely Cashew (Anacardium occidentale), Coconut (Cocos nucifera), Mango (Mangifera indica), Corn (Zea mays), and Peanut (Arachis hypogaea) Bantenan (Lannea coromandelica) had a frequency of 96% as an ecological fence. This system has a 6-Layer Buffer structure consisting of quick food, reserve, spices, quick cash, savings, and liquid assets. A total of 16% of farmers have implemented Trigona sp beekeeping and Nila fish (Oreochromis niloticus) culture. Conclusion, Kayangan agroforestry is a smart model proven to be resilient to 8-10 months of long dry season. The implication of this study is the need for a 3-mandatory-pillars policy of Bantenan, NTF, and Cashew to strengthen dryland agroforestry in NTB.
