Jurnal Ilmiah Berkala Sains dan Terapan Kimia is a peer-reviewed and open-access scientific journal published by the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Lambung Mangkurat.
The journal publishes high-quality original research articles, review articles, and short communications in chemistry and applied chemical sciences.
The journal welcomes manuscripts in the following areas:

The journal is published biannually in January and July.
Authors are required to prepare their manuscripts using the official JSTK Template.
Types of Manuscripts
- Research Articles: Original research findings with significant scientific contributions.
- Review Articles: Comprehensive and critical reviews of scientific developments.
- Short Communications: Brief reports of important scientific findings.
Manuscript Submission
Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform of JSTK.
Authors must ensure that:
- The manuscript has not been published previously.
- The manuscript is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- All authors have approved the manuscript submission.
- The manuscript follows the JSTK manuscript template and author guidelines.
- The manuscript passes plagiarism screening requirements.
Manuscript Language
Manuscripts may be submitted in English or Bahasa Indonesia. However, only manuscripts written in proper academic English are eligible for final publication.

Manuscripts must be prepared using Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.

Title
The manuscript title must be concise, informative, and accurately reflect the content of the manuscript. Both English and Indonesian titles are required.
Titles should avoid abbreviations whenever possible.
Author Names and Affiliations
Authors’ names must be written completely without academic titles.
Affiliations should include:
- Department/Institution
- Faculty
- University/Organization
- City
- Postal code
- Country
The corresponding author must provide an active email address.
Abstract
Abstracts must be written in both English and Bahasa Indonesia.
The abstract should be written in a single paragraph with a maximum length of 250 words.
The abstract must clearly contain:
- Background or research objective
- Research methods
- Main findings or results
- Conclusions
Abstracts must not contain:
- References
- Tables
- Figures
- Equations
The abstract should be concise, informative, and able to represent the overall content of the manuscript accurately.
Keywords
Provide 3–5 keywords separated by semicolons.
Keywords should represent important concepts of the manuscript and avoid repeating words already used in the title.
Introduction
The Introduction should explain the research background, scientific problems, novelty of the study, relevant literature, and research objectives.
Avoid excessive literature review and unnecessary sub-sections.
Materials and Methods
This section must provide sufficient detail to allow the work to be reproduced.
Materials
- Describe chemicals, reagents, and instrumentation clearly.
- Specify the origin of samples when necessary.
- Provide manufacturer information if applicable.
Methods
- Methods should be described clearly and systematically.
- Previously published methods must be cited appropriately.
- Modifications to existing methods should be explained.
- Statistical analysis methods should be included when applicable.
Results and Discussion
Results should be presented clearly and concisely.
The discussion should explain:
- The scientific significance of the findings
- The relationship between the results and research objectives
- Comparisons with previous studies
- Scientific interpretation of the results
Avoid repeating numerical data excessively.
Figures
- Figures must be clear and high resolution.
- Figures must be numbered consecutively.
- Figures should be cited in the text as Fig. 1, Fig. 2, etc.
- Figure captions should be placed below the figures.
- Color figures are acceptable for online publication.
Tables
- Tables must be editable and not inserted as images.
- Tables must be numbered consecutively.
- Table captions should be placed above the tables.
- Tables should be cited in the text.
- Minimum table font size: 9 pt.
Equations
Equations should be editable using Equation Editor and numbered consecutively when necessary.
Authors should use SI units consistently throughout the manuscript.
Conclusions
Conclusions should summarize the major findings of the study concisely and clearly without repeating detailed discussion.
Acknowledgment
Acknowledgments should include funding information, institutional support, research grants, and contributions from individuals who are not listed as authors.
Example:

Declaration of AI Use in Manuscript Preparation
Authors who use artificial intelligence (AI) or AI-assisted technologies during manuscript preparation must disclose such use in a dedicated section entitled:

AI technologies may only be used for:
- Grammar checking
- Language improvement
- Formatting assistance
- Readability enhancement
AI tools must not be used for:
- Data fabrication
- Data manipulation
- Fake citations
- Scientific interpretation replacement
- Authorship attribution
AI software cannot be listed as authors.
References
All references cited in the text must appear in the reference list and vice versa.
JSTK uses APA 7th Edition citation style.
Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as:
Reference requirements:
- At least 80% should be primary references.
- References should preferably be published within the last 10 years.
- DOI should be included whenever available.
Publication Ethics
JSTK follows publication ethics principles recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) .
Authors must ensure that manuscripts are original, free from plagiarism, and do not contain fabricated or falsified data.
Plagiarism Policy
All manuscripts submitted to JSTK will be screened using Turnitin.
The maximum acceptable similarity index is 15%.
Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be rejected or returned for revision.
Article Withdrawal Policy
Authors are not permitted to withdraw manuscripts that have entered the editorial or peer-review stages without valid reasons.
Unethical withdrawal may result in publication sanctions.
Copyright and License
Authors retain copyright of their work.
Articles published in JSTK are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0) .
Peer Review Process
All manuscripts undergo a blind peer-review process by at least two reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript topic.
Final publication decisions are made by the Editors based on reviewers’ recommendations.
