Abstract

Learning in elementary schools faces challenges in increasing student engagement with materials that are considered less interesting, especially in understanding abstract scientific concepts such as the human digestive system. Therefore, this study aims to develop STEAM-based pop-up book learning media to facilitate fifth-grade elementary school students' understanding of the human digestive system. This research is included in the 4D Research and Development model. Two experts were involved as media experts, and 16 students were potential users. The quality of pop-up book media is assessed based on 15 items spread over 5 aspects that refer to STEAM elements. Each item uses a 6-point Likert rating scale. The development results produced learning media such as pop-up books based on the STEAM approach in learning human digestive system material for grade V elementary school students. Based on the expert agreement index of the Gregory model used, the pop-up book developed has very good feasibility, an index of 1.00. This product successfully combines three-dimensional (3D) visual elements and is considered feasible by media experts. This pop-up book media can be an innovative alternative for learning in elementary schools that can increase student engagement and facilitate understanding of complex scientific concepts.
