Peer Review Process
Socius (Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial) will initially have the Editor-in-Chief to screen the submitted manuscripts. Then, the papers will be distributed to the editorial boards based on their field of expertise.
Desk Review. The papers will undergo desk review where those will be read and screened by the editorial board members to ensure that they have met the writing guideline, focus, and scope with excellent academic quality. If they do not meet the conditions, the author will be given the opportunity to revise their manuscript according to the given criteria. However, there is also the possibility that the manuscript will be directly rejected.
Peer Review. Socius (Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial) operates a double-blind reviewing policy in which the reviewer's name is always concealed from the submitting author and vice versa. The manuscripts will be sent to a peer-reviewer based on their field of expertise. Socius (Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial) provides a review form for the reviewer to give their assesments which includes originality, clarity, contribution to the field and scope, as well as language and stucture. Then editorial board will make a decision upon the reviewer comments or advice. The decisions include:
- Accepted, as it can be published directly
- Accepted with Minor Revisions (let author revised with a specified time limit)
- Accepted with Major Revisions (let author revised with a specified time limit)
- Rejected, as it can be re-evaluted after revision (generally, the manuscript is out of the scope of Socius (Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial), major technical problems, clarity of contents and presentation)
To check the plagiarism, Socius (Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial) will do the screening by using Turnitin. The limit of percentage of a manuscript must be 20%. If it is found plagiarism indication, the editorial board may reject the manuscripts immediately (but the writer may resubmit it after revision) or set a limited time for author(s) to revise the manuscript.
Normal turn-around time for evaluation of manuscripts is four to six months between January-June (for the first edition) and July-December (for the second edition).
The article review process usually takes average 12 weeks. This review period depends on the editors and reviewers duration in reviewing the manuscript.
Publication Frequency
Socius (Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial) Journal is published twice a year, April and October.
Archiving
This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.

- Owning the responsibility for styling and formatting the paper, while the contents and any statements in the paper are the responsibility of the authors.
- Assessing policies and attitudes of the published journal from the author and peer review to increase responsibility and minimize errors.
- Having an open minded personality in accepting the new opinion or views of others who is different than their personal opinion.
- Prohibiting in defending our own opinion, the author or third parties which may result in a false decision.
- Encouraging the author, in order to make improvements to the paper until it worth to publish.
- Receiving the task from the editors to review the papers and submit the review to the editor, as a matter of determining the feasibility of the paper for publication.
- Reviewing the papers in a timely manner (on time) in accordance with the style guide based on scientific principles (method of data collection, the legality of the author, conclusions, etc.).
- Reviewing the papers that have been corrected in accordance with the standards.
- Encouraging the author to make improvements in the papers by providing feedback, suggestions, feedback, and recommendations.
- Maintaining the author privacy by covering the results of the corrections, suggestions, and recommendations received by the author.
- Reviewers must not review any papers who involve the reviewers in its work, directly or indirectly.
- Following the guidelines for peer review in reviewing papers and assessing the evaluation form paper given by the editors.
- Reviewing papers substantively by not correcting the grammar, punctuation and mistype.
- Ensuring the principles of truth, novelty, and originality; prioritize the benefit of the paper for the development of science, technology, and innovation; also comprehending the impact on the development of science writing.
- Prohibiting in defending own opinion, the author or third parties which may result on decision reference becoming non-objective.
- Upholding the value of the objectivity and free from any influences.
- Ensuring the confidentiality of findings in the paper until it is published.
- Having broad understanding on the expertise and able to provide a review of the paper appropriately and correctly.
- Refusing to do review if the research is not from the field of expertise. Instead, the peer review should be giving recommendation to the researcher if there is any other expert on the subjects.
- Having an open minded personality in accepting the new opinion or views of others who is different than their personal opinion.
- Refusing to do the review if the deadline given by the editor cannot be reached. If absent the peer review should notify the editor as early as possible.
- The results of the review must be presented in an honest, objective, and supported by clear arguments. Some possible recommendations from the review are:
- Accepted without repair
- Accepted with minor repairs (after repaired by the author, it is not necessary to go to peer review)
- Accepted with major repairs (after repaired by the author, return to the peer review for re-review)
- Rejected and recommended for other publication
- Rejected and recommended not to publish to any publication because scientifically the paper is flawed for the community.
- Giving rejection for the last recommendation as the last choice related to the feasibility of the papers or with indication of severe violations of the code of ethics related to the author.
- Reviewed papers aren’t allowed to be used for personal or third party interests. Moreover, The use of some of the contents of the reviewed papers must have received permission from the author.
- Author collectively responsible for the work and the content of the article which cover methods, analysis, calculation, and its details.
- Author immediately responds to the comments made by the peer review professionally and timely.
- Author should inform the editor if they retract their paper.
- The author describes the limitations in the study.
- Author respects the publishers if they demand to not to publish the findings in the form of interviews or through any other media before the publication.
- The author informs the editor of (a) paper that is part of a phased research, multidisciplinary, and different perspectives.
- The author makes a statement that the papers submitted for publication is original, has not been published anywhere in any language, and not in the process of submission to another publisher.
- If there is any error in the paper, the author should immediately notify the editor or publisher.
- The use of materials from other publications which is copyrighted, should be given a written permission and gratitude.
- The author refers to the work of others as appropriate in citations and quotations which used in the paper.
- When delivering new discoveries or improving inventions the authors should mention the job previous researcher/writer/founder.
- The author is not allowed to give a bibliography of the publications if they do not read the publication.
- If requested, the authors prepared the proof that the research has already met the requirements of the research ethics including the field notes.
- Author adequately responds if there are any comments or feedback after the paper published.
About The Journal
Socius (Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial) is a peerreviewed journal published twice a year, namely April and October by Master of Education Program IPS, Faculty of teacher training and education at Lambung Mangkurat University, Banjarmasin. The journal compiled scholarly articles focusing on social Studies, both in South Kalimantan, Indonesia and other countries, and also in the region. The published scientific article is a result of theoretical research or study relating to issues that develop around Social sciences.

If the manuscript is accepted for publication, the author agrees to transfer the copyright to Socius (Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial), Lambung Mangkurat University, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan as the publisher of this journal. Socius (Journal of Social Sciences Education and Learning), Lambung Mangkurat University, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, the Editorial Board makes every effort so that there are no false or misleading data, opinions, or statements published in the journal. However, the content of articles and advertisements published in the Socius Journal of Social Sciences Education and Learning) is the full and exclusive responsibility of their respective authors and advertisers.

Policy Of Screening For Plagiarism
To avoid plagiarism, all submissions are screened using Turnitin before undergoing the review processes.
Plagiarism-free works should match these requirements:
1. Writing that quoting writings of others (by quoting indirectly) that has been well paraphrased, by making one’s own words, instead of performing copy and paste or typing the original source word-by-word, and write down the reading sources according to the rules of scientific writing.
2. Writing with direct quotation, by quoting the exact same words as the original writings should apply quotation marks (for writing that less than 40 words), or if the quote consists of over than 40 words, the paragraphs should be notched and applies different font size.
3. Mentioning the original source other people's ideas that is being used, whether from published or unpublished writing, both from oral or written source, in any form of media
4. The result of plagiarism percentage of a manuscript is limited to 20%. If it is found plagiarism indication, the editorial board will reject the manuscripts immediately (but the writer may resubmit it after revision).
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
