Journal History

Konversi is an open-access scientific journal published by the Chemical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Lambung Mangkurat University, South Kalimantan, Indonesia.

2012
Konversi was officially established in 2012 and received its first manuscript submission. Dr. Primata Mardina was appointed as the first Editor in Chief. At the early stage, all articles were published in Bahasa Indonesia, with abstracts provided in English.

2012–2014
During this initial period, the journal management focused on establishing a strong foundation for scientific publication quality, strengthening the peer-review process, and encouraging citations in order to improve the academic visibility of the journal.

2015
Prof. Muthia Elma was appointed as the Editor in Chief to continue strengthening the journal’s academic quality and editorial management.

2015–2023
During this period, Konversi focused on improving the overall quality of published articles, and expanding the journal’s indexing and academic visibility.

2016
Starting in 2016, Konversi received its electronic ISSN (e-ISSN 2541-3481), complementing the existing print ISSN (p-ISSN 2302-3686).

2017
Konversi was officially accredited by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Republic of Indonesia, with SINTA 4, starting from Volume 5 No. 1 (2016) to Volume 9 No. 2 (2020).

On 9 May 2017, Konversi was successfully indexed by the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and several other important indexing services.

Beginning in 2017, the journal adopted a new manuscript format where article titles were written in English, while abstracts were provided in both Bahasa Indonesia and English. The main content of the article could be written either in Bahasa Indonesia or English.

2018
Due to the synchronization of the institutional domain of Lambung Mangkurat University from www.unlam.ac.id to www.ulm.ac.id, the journal website was migrated from

2019 – 2024
Konversi improved its accreditation status and received SINTA 3, valid from Volume 8 No. 2 (2019) to Volume 13 No. 1 (2024).

DOAJ Status Update
Due to domain migration and other possible technical or administrative issues, Konversi was later removed from the DOAJ index.

2023
Prof. Meilana Dharma Putra was appointed as Editor in Chief. In the same year, Konversi implemented major improvements in journal management, including new article layouts, cover design, and editorial standards aligned with international publication ethics and COPE guidelines.

Konversi also received SINTA 4 accreditation for the period 2023–2028.

2023 – ongoing
Since 2023, Konversi has focused on the internationalization of the journal, including improving article quality, strengthening the peer-review system, increasing international authorship and editorial collaboration, and expanding international indexation such as DOAJ, EBSCO, Scopus, and other global databases.

Starting from this period, all articles were required to have titles and abstracts in English, while the main content could still be written in either Bahasa Indonesia or English as part of the transition toward full English publication.

2024
Authors were strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts in English, and the journal began increasing international collaboration and affiliations.

2025
Konversi fully transitioned to publishing articles entirely in English and actively expanded international author affiliations.

In 2025, Konversi was successfully accepted for indexing in EBSCO.

December 2025
Konversi was officially submitted for evaluation to DOAJ and Scopus, and both applications are currently under review.
