Abstract

The Dayak Bakumpai community in Lepasan Village, Bakumpai Sub-district, Barito Kuala Regency is known to have knowledge in managing and utilizing natural products available in the environment and helping to preserve them, one of which is the Jeringau plant (Acorus calamus L.). This study aims to study the ethnobotany of Jeringau in the Dayak Bakumpai community in Lepasan Village using a descriptive approach method to describe the ethnobotany study of Jeringau through interviews with snowball sampling technique. The results of the research obtained 6 ethnobotanical studies, namely a herbaceous plant (botany) planted next to the house (ethno-ecology), and used for the treatment of swollen feet, stomach pain, restoring energy after childbirth, and hot powder (ethno-pharmacology). Jeringau is believed to keep away the negative influence of supernatural beings (ethno-socioanthropology), used mainly for its own needs as raw material for making medicine (ethno-economy). Jeringau is named for its finger-like leaves and net-like properties (ethno-linguistics).
